Note:
I inherited the websites for some artists hosted here:
Sandy Denny (merging it with mine) and Trevor Lucas in 1998
from Willem Doornkamp;
Waterson:Carthy, Ashley Hutchings, Joseph Taylor and
the Kipper Family in 2002 from Dr. Garry Gillard when he retired from
Murdoch University, Perth, Australia.
Thank you very much for your great work and for asking me to take over!
And thanks to Alistair Banfield too for his never-ending support and
wealth of information.

With their weapons of mass tradition, 54 musicians participated in this spectacular flashmob of traditional dance and music from Québec:
On a personal note
This website started in about 1996 as a fan website for Steeleye Span and Sandy Denny in a personal directory of the university department's webserver that I am administering. Since then it grew to a comprehensive overview of recorded traditional and contemporary English folk music. It comprises 4565 web pages cataloguing 3354 albums—nearly all of them in my own collection—and 2137 songs and tunes, with cross references to the Child, Laws and Roud folksong indexes and to the Traditional Ballad Index at California State University, Fresno. It is widely linked to in the folk scene and is, amongst others, approved and supported by Prof. Dr. Albrecht Schneider, retired Professor of Systematic Musicology at my own university and supervisor of Prof. Dr. Britta Sweers' seminal doctoral thesis on Electric Folk, by Dr. Fay Hield of the Department of Music at the University of Sheffield, and by Dr. Garry Gillard, retired, of Murdoch University, Perth, Australia. Thank you very much for your support.
17 years later I had to move on. In March 2013 my university's press and public relations office—which I didn't know to be an academic advisory board—took umbrage at these pages. It ruled that they are academically unworthy (“völlig universitätsfremde Inhalte”) and it asked me to move them to somewhere else. Which I have done. Welcome to mainlynorfolk.info.
