Collected and edited by Wolf Dietrich;
Translations by Agni Rassidakis

The music of Greece varies considerably from region to region. Today, in continental Greece, the musical ensembles, under the guidance of the clarinet, dominate while the islands prefer softer tones as produced by the violin or the lyra. This CD presents different ensembles from different parts of Greece with its typical local forms of music. Many recordings were made live during weddings and other festivities in the villages, all of them “in the field”.
