Death Is Not the End
[ Roud - ; Mudcat 122959 ; Bob Dylan]
Bob Dylan composed Death Is Not the End for his album Infidels (1983), but it did not appear until 1988 on Down in the Groove.
Peter Bellamy sang Death Is Not the End live at the Cockermouth Folk Club in January 1991. He accompanied himself on Anglo concertina. The concert was published on his cassette Songs an’ Rummy Conjurin’ Tricks. An earlier studio recording of this song from 1989 was included in 1999 on his Free Reed anthology Wake the Vaulted Echoes.
Cockersdale sang Death Is Not the End in 1977 on their Fellside album Wide Open Skies. They noted:
A song which is definitely more optimistic than its title would suggest! We got this song from the singing of Peter Bellamy and which was featured on the last recording he made (recorded by our producer, Paul Adams), Songs an’ Rummy Conjurin’ Tricks (Fellside FSC5). Peter was always a great fan of Bob Dylan.
