The Archive Project began in Summer 2012, giving seven young musicians from the Edinburgh Yough Gaitherin the chance to explore the sound and photographic archives of the School of Scottish Studies, University of Edinburgh. The aim was to find inspiration among the thousands of field recordings housed in the Archives: Scots songs, Gaelic songs, stories, recollections, poetry, fiddle tunes, piobaireachd, canntaireachd, and much more, creating inventive new music.
