Dave Swarbrick, Martin Carthy, and Savourna Stevenson played this tune in 1991 at Dave Swarbrick’s 50^th Birthday Concert. This recording was included in the Dave Swarbrick anthology Swarb! in 2003 too. Dave Swarbrick and Martin Carthy recorded it again in 1992 for their album Skin and Bone. Martin Carthy wrote in the latter record’s sleeve notes:

The descant part of The Trip We Took Over the Mountain is the work of the driving and imaginative harpist Savourna Stevenson, who finds it considerably easier to play on her many many strings than Dave does on his mere four. Well that’s what he always moans on about. Good tune though.
