Still Waters Run Deep
Candle in the Wind / Still Waters Run Deep Sandy Denny Island WIP 6391 (Single, UK, 1977) |
[Sandy Denny]
Recorded during the Rendezvous sessions, Sandy Denny’s song Still Waters Run Deep was released as the B-side of her single Candle in the Wind, and was collected on The Attic Tracks Vol. 1 and on The Attic Tracks CD, and in 2005 as bonus track of the CD reissue of Rendezvous It may have started out its short life as a song called Mystery Woman, as that is what is written on the recorded tape’s box.
John Penhallow: “Before Trevor and I started rummaging through boxes of tapes, I had found the Candle in the Wind, single and recorded its B-side, Still Waters. So if you’ve never heard this song before, then you get it twice on this tape!”
Sandy recorded a demo of this song at home in Byfield in March 1976; she accompanied herself on 12 string guitar. This track was included in the bonus CD of the Fledg’ling Sandy Denny anthology A Boxful of Treasures.
